Atkins is delighted to be appointed to deliver the full multidiscipline design services for all stages for Ryanair’s new Office Campus Development in Dublin. Atkins is providing the full suite of disciplines including: Planning, Architecture, Civil & Structural Engineering, MEP Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Project Management, Fire Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Health & Safety and cost consultancy from concept stage, planning application, detailed design, contractor procurement, construction supervision and project handover.

Atkins is delivering this project to BIM level 2 under the BSi Kitemark. Atkins was the first consultancy in Europe to receive the Kitemark for PAS 1192-3:2014 as a BIM consultancy services provider.

The Atkins design is a state of the art six-storey 10,700m² Office Building nestled within a landscaped site at the gateway to the Airside Business Park, Swords. The building massing relates to the particular site characteristics at this strategic bookend location, with a strong corner façade feature anchoring and giving the building prominence in the urban landscape within which it resides. The external façade design ensures the building aesthetic is appropriate at this key location. Atkins has drawn on the forms, materials and aesthetics in the immediate vicinity, and selected a palette of materials including; Horizontal and Vertical Brise Soliel, Glazed Curtain Walling, Architectural Aluminium Panels and Louvred Screens to provide a high quality minimalist façade. This façade compliments and unifies the architectural forms of the adjacent developments. The choice of materials are informed by their aesthetic, durability and ease of maintenance.

The building is entered through a modern reception foyer housed within an impressive five storey high glazed atrium overlooked from the levels above by open balconies. In designing the internal shared spaces, Atkins has strived to ensure that the environment will be as comfortable as possible for the end users. The L shaped layout provides shell and core provision for office accommodation in each wing. The depth of the floor plan has been carefully considered to emphasise the sense of space and openness and allow the office areas to benefit from the dual aspect natural light and ventilation. Within the central core area showers and changing rooms are provided at each level exceed current standards to encourage use of more sustainable transport modes by personnel working in the building.

The existing landscaping will blend seamlessly into the surrounding grass verge within the site and landscaped tree and shrub planting will enhance and break up views, improving surrounding views of the building and the internal views out building. Sustainable Urban Drainage features have been integrated within the overall site design with cognisance of the existing ecological system established within the business park incorporated in features such as the inclusion of a riparian corridor and the protection and enhancement of access to St. Werburgh’s Well.
