The demand for energy worldwide continues to increase. The International Energy Agency expects that daily global oil production will plateau at around 68 million barrels per day by 2020, as total energy demand increases by more than 35% by 2035. It is expected that increases in other fossil fuels like natural gas and oil sands will significantly supplant crude oil in meeting new demand, with clean, renewable energy sources also making major gains.
