Monkstown Village Improvement Scheme for Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council

Atkins is delighted to be part of the team who are currently delivering the Monkstown Village Improvement Scheme for Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. The scheme involves an upgrade of the public realm in Monkstown in such a manner that it compliments its historic setting. The scheme also includes traffic management to alter and amalgamate a number of complex traffic movements and provide measures to improve the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable road users.

The overall team are photographed in the above photo having just completed the October monthly progress meeting and subsequent site walkover. The scheme which commenced construction in May 2017 is progressing well on site and is due for completion in early December 2017.

Ursula O’Higgins stated that ‘This project is a very important addition to the locality, which will greatly enhance Monkstown Village centre. The overall vision from DLRCC is to improve the village centre for the people of Monkstown by creating an environment that is a far more attractive and safer place in which to shop, visit, do business, and pass the time of day.’
